AI Listing Description Examples: Rentals

ListingLift · Practical AI for real-estate agents

Rental listings have a different job than for-sale copy. Renters skim fast, compare a dozen units in one sitting, and decide in seconds whether a place is worth a tour. Good rental copy is concrete, scannable, and honest about what's included. Below are four sample descriptions you can adapt — each one written by AI from a short fact list, then reviewed. The examples are illustrative only: the properties, rents, and details are invented to show structure and tone, not real listings.

Example 1: Urban one-bedroom apartment

Sample copy — for illustration only.

"Bright one-bedroom on a quiet tree-lined block, two blocks from the Riverside light-rail stop. The open kitchen has stainless appliances, a gas range, and a breakfast bar that seats two. South-facing windows keep the living room sunny all afternoon. In-unit washer/dryer, central air, and one assigned parking space included. Cats welcome with deposit. Available the first of next month — schedule a tour today."

Prompt used: "Write a 70-word rental listing for a 1BR/1BA apartment. Facts: near Riverside light-rail, stainless appliances, gas range, breakfast bar, south-facing windows, in-unit laundry, central air, 1 assigned parking spot, cat-friendly with deposit. Tone: friendly and concrete. End with a tour CTA. Use only these facts."

Example 2: Single-family home rental for families

Sample copy — for illustration only.

"Spacious three-bedroom, two-bath home with a fenced backyard and a two-car garage. The updated kitchen opens to a family room with a wood-burning fireplace. Hardwood floors run through the main level; all three bedrooms are upstairs. A covered patio and storage shed round out the yard. Lawn care included in rent. Pets considered case by case. Move-in ready — reach out to set a showing."

Prompt used: "Write an 80-word rental listing for a 3BR/2BA single-family home. Facts: fenced backyard, 2-car garage, updated kitchen open to family room, wood-burning fireplace, hardwood main level, bedrooms upstairs, covered patio, storage shed, lawn care included, pets case by case. Tone: warm and practical. Don't invent features."

Tip: For rentals, always tell the AI what's included versus what's extra — utilities, parking, laundry, pet policy. Renters' first questions are about cost and rules, so surfacing those up front cuts down on dead-end inquiries.

Example 3: Furnished short-term unit

Sample copy — for illustration only.

"Fully furnished studio designed for traveling professionals and relocating tenants. Everything's set up: queen bed, smart TV, full kitchen with cookware, fast Wi-Fi, and a dedicated work desk. Weekly cleaning available on request. Walk to coffee shops, a grocery store, and the medical district. Flexible lease terms from one to six months. Just bring a suitcase — inquire for current availability."

Prompt used: "Write a 65-word furnished short-term rental listing. Facts: studio, queen bed, smart TV, full kitchen with cookware, fast Wi-Fi, work desk, optional weekly cleaning, walkable to coffee/grocery/medical district, 1-6 month terms. Audience: traveling professionals and relocations. Tone: clean and modern."

Example 4: Budget-friendly apartment, value-focused

Sample copy — for illustration only.

"Well-kept two-bedroom apartment with a smart, efficient layout and plenty of closet space. On-site laundry, a community courtyard, and assigned parking. Water and trash are included in the rent. Easy access to the interstate and a bus line at the corner. A solid, no-surprises home at a fair price — contact us to check availability."

Prompt used: "Write a 60-word value-focused rental listing for a 2BR apartment. Facts: efficient layout, ample closets, on-site laundry, courtyard, assigned parking, water and trash included, near interstate and a bus line. Tone: straightforward and honest. No exaggeration."

Before you publish

Run every AI draft through a quick review. Confirm the unit count, square footage, and amenities are accurate; check that included costs and pet rules match your lease; and screen the language for Fair Housing compliance — phrases that describe the ideal tenant ("perfect for young professionals") can cross a legal line. See our Fair Housing & AI compliance guide for what to avoid, and the step-by-step listing workflow for the full process.

The pattern is the same across all four examples: a tight fact list in, a short scannable description out, then your eyes on it before it goes live. AI handles the drafting and the repetition across units; you keep it accurate.
